Top Planning Tips
Depending on the nature of your enquiry for your prospective project, there are many factors to consider to ensure a project is planned and executed well – all requiring your input to get the best outcome!
Please have a read through these tips and take down notes on each – we look forward to planning and working with you.
Design - look and feel
- Have photos / concepts / styles / materials prepared to show us of what you would like.
- Try some samples – It can be useful for clients to have a first hand look at colour and style samples; i.e. of timber, paint in the shops.
- Many dedicated trade outlets have samples or can get samples to get an idea of the finished product albeit on a small scale.
Consultation and Timing
- Have an idea who other stakeholders that may need to be consulted are, ie neighbours, local council.
- Have a think about the timing of when doing the project may be most suitable. This can depend on weather, your movements and use of property at certain times, etc.
- Assess your timing requirements with the planning and organisation of the job on our side to ensure the project is streamlined, correct materials are obtained and the corect staff and sub-contractors are ready to be deployed on the project.

Concept planning
- Have a clear idea on what you want to achieve.
- Prepare any possible drawing/plans to that may affect the project, ie water pipe locations running through your property.
- Have any drawings/sketches of the potential work you’d like done (we can also suggest architects, a draughtperson, engineers etc where projects warrant it).
Site Access
- Liase with us on access to the property and parking, access options to get materials and tools onsite.
- Organise easy access to water, power, toilet facilities or we can hire a portaloo onsite. We will communicate dates and times before we arrive and check that it works for you.
Work Progress
- You can rest assured that we regulary communicate progress updates with you.
- Check you are happy with the final result before we pack up our tools and say goodbye.
